THE GREETS are a Rock & Roll band from Cordoba City in Argentina. These days, they are touring with their new international show 'THE SIXTIES TODAY' depicting the music of that decade with their own intimate modern style.
On this show they recall the great work by The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones and The Kinks among others. The band also includes their own creative work: music and lyrics by The Greets.
The Greets are made up of:
- Rodrigo Castiñeira (keyboard and vocals)
- Gonzalo Castiñeira (bass and vocals)
- Facundo De Resa (electric guitar and vocals)
- Matías Sabagh (drums and backing vocals).
Their first official performance was in may, 2001 in the Cavern Club, Buenos Aires. They took part in the First Latin American Beatle Week and they got critical acclaim due to the young age of the artists (between 10 and 14 years old).From then on, they strongly started taking part in the local market as a beatle band by presenting their performances in the theatres, pubs or relevant cultural events in the Capital and in the province of Cordoba as well.
In 2001 they shared stage with the famous singer and composer Lito Nebbia, and some months later they were support band for Attaque 77, a renowned punk band from South America.
In 2004, they presented the '50 YEARS OF ROCK' show in Luz y fuerza theatre. The show sold out: 690 people attended this incredible performance.
In december, 2008, The Greets were elected BEST LATIN AMERICAN BEATLE BAND during the 8th.beatle week in The Cavern Club, Buenos Aires while Gonzalo received the best bass player award.
As a reward, they were able to play 10 gigs in the 2009 Beatle Week in LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND. One of their most important performances was during the Mathew Street Festival, in front of thousands of people and in the legendary Cavern where great artists like The Beatles, The Who, Queen, Elton John, Jimi Hendrix played.
After this succesfull experience, the band started a european Tour which included cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, Rome, Paris and Ibiza.
Back in Argentina, The Greets gave a great show in front of thousands of people in 'PASEO DEL BUEN PASTOR', a prestigious cultural event sponsored by 'LA VOZ DEL INTERIOR', the most important local newspaper.
In may, 2010 The Greets presented their new international show called 'THE SIXTIES TODAY' in Ciudad de las artes. Two shows were sold out and the band got deeply enthusiastic reviews from the local press.
